Dave Tooley, President of the San Diego Civil War Round Table, will speak on “Civil War Railroads.” When the shooting began in 1861, the Union had a head start with most of the country’s railroad trackage and the advantage of standardized gauge. Further, those in charge of the United States Military Railroad were railroaders who knew what was needed, while the Confederate Military Railroad had a much more difficult time of it. Dave will explain the situation in detail.
