Student Symposium

Cost: Free
Hear students present their research on one of San Diego’s recognizable historic ranch houses. The Los Peñasquitos Ranch House was constructed in 1823 by Francisco María Ruiz, the recipient of the first Mexican land grant in San Diego County. Ongoing archaeological digs take place on site, revealing remnants of early civilization and the history of human habitation. Located in the Los Peñasquitos Canyon, the adobe continues to be visited today and stands as a reflection of San Diego’s history. Poster presentations will cover faunal analysis, the ammunitions of the time period, historic ceramics, animal husbandry, and more.
