Floating Weeds (1959. 118 minutes. Japan): A Technicolor masterwork of profound humanity, filled with striking compositions, buoyant humor and sublime poetry. Yasujiro Ozu creates a dreamy, quietly simmering atmosphere of emotional tension in his tale of the master of a traveling troupe of actors who reunites with an old flame and their son, enraging his current mistress. (In Japanese with English subtitles). Film Forum Coronado is held in the Winn Room at the Coronado Public Library, twice a month, with a brief introduction before the film and a discussion afterward, led by Ralph DeLauro. This program is presented by the Coronado Public Library and the Coronado Island Film Festival.
