Jennie Cowles-Santee: Living History Presentation
One Father Junípero Serra Trail, San Carlos, 92119
Cost: Free
Meet Jennie Cowles-Santee and learn about the lives of early settlers to the El Cajon Valley and City of San Diego. Who were George Cowles and Milton Santee? Why did they settle here? How did they shape the future of our lovely park? And, who was the woman behind these two pioneers? Mission Trails volunteer Trail Guide Heidi Brown, in the spirit of Jennie Cowles-Santee, will take you back to 1893, a time when the El Cajon Valley was transforming from dusty cattle ranges and Kumayaay settlements into small pioneer towns and large farms. Here's your chance to ask a character from the past, questions about living here long before automobiles and internet service.
