San Diego Sound Project: Montalban Quintet
The San Diego Sound Project kicks off with the Montalban Quintet, a jazzy local rock collective. Featuring influences of post-punk, minimalism, jazz, 50s schmaltz, field recordings, and new western art music, a live show with the Montalban Quintet is an eclectic and soul-filling experience. The live band features Chris Prescott (drums, electronics), Carl Prescott (trumpet), Kenseth Thibideau (bass, vocals), Jim Weiss (tenor and baritone saxophone), Rodrigo Contreras (piano), Greg Friedman (guitar, vocals), Julie Kitterman (glockenspiel, percussion, vocals). This talented group’s individual musical endeavors include: Pinback, Boilermaker, Sleeping People, The Jade Shader, The Mattson 2, Big Time Operator, No Knife, Systems Officer, Tanner and more.
