Regional Music of Mexico: Hermanos Herrera
Featuring Hermanos Herrera with Ethnomusicologist Tim Rice: Hermanos Herrera, a music band united in blood and love of their Mexican performing arts traditions, will explore the human experience as expressed through three styles of Mexican regional music. Hermanos Herrera, along with ethnomusicologist Dr. Timothy Rice, will explore the lived meanings of son jarocho, son huasteco, and accordion-based norteño music, from northern Mexico. After each prerecorded performance segment, the band, with instruments in hand, will answer any questions you may have. Bring your dancing shoes and your questions for what promises to be a fun- and music-filled presentation! Hermanos Herrera will be addressing questions from the audience. Guests are invited to log into YouTube to comment and ask questions of the artist. Registration on Ticketleap is free. A link to the live stream will be provided in your registration confirmation email. This presentation is the second of six programs in the Center for World Music’s Spring 2021 Virtual Encounters with World Music and Dance series.
