History Talks: Allensworth, CA
All over the world from, San Diego
Cost: Free - $20
Founded in 1908 by a group led by Chaplain Allen Allensworth, the historic township of Allensworth is the first all-black town created in California. This thriving community was founded, built, and governed by African-Americans, as a place to live free from the racial discrimination that continued decades after the end of the Civil War. Statewide President of the Friends of Allensworth Sasha Biscoe shares the story of this fascinating and historic district. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting. This lecture is free to join but donations to the Gaslamp Museum are gratefully accepted.
