History Talks: Gold Rush Town of Columbia
Travel back in time with us to the days of the California Gold Rush. Located in the small Sierra Nevada town of Columbia, Columbia State Historic Park preserves the historic district of a once bustling gold rush town. Unlike the many other gold rush towns of the region, Columbia was never modernized or destroyed, making it the largest collection of gold rush era buildings in the state. As we make our way through town, we will learn about the merchants who built it, as well as the townspeople who passionately campaigned for its preservation as a State Park in 1945. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting. This lecture is free to join but donations to the Gaslamp Museum are gratefully accepted. History Talks is a monthly lecture series presented by the Gaslamp Museum at the Davis-Horton House.
