Art of Elan: Reflections
Art of Elan's 14th season at The San Diego Museum of Art opens with "Reflections," a thought-provoking cinematic program that explores the bizarre and complex world of twins and multiples as viewed through the lens of photographer and documentarian Mary Ellen Mark. In a concert-length (1 hour) film to be released to ticket-buyers and Museum members on November 10, Art of Elan will transform the Museum into a creative playground, activating different galleries with music, dancers, and a variety of unique reflections. Featured artists include Kate Hatmaker on violin, Rose Lombardo on flute, multi-instrumentalist and singer/composer Theodosia Roussos, marimba virtuosos James Beauton, Fiona Digney and Andrew Watkins, musicians from Bach Collegium, and dancers from Disco Riot. The diverse soundscape takes listeners on a colorful journey beginning with the buoyant sounds of Steve Reich, through the haunting music of Marcos Balter, and concluding with a powerful work by composer/violinist Jessie Montgomery, with other stops along the way. This spell-binding program sets the stage for a season of true transformation. Free for SDMA Members, Free for SDMA members, $10 nonmembers, $5 students.
