5th Annual Festival of New Plays
The San Diego City College Dramatic Arts Program presents the fifth annual Festival of New Plays. San Diego City College’s Dramatic Arts Department has recently expanded its course offerings with a class in Playwriting (DRAM 108), offered in the fall semester. From this pool of new writers, seven plays were chosen to be fully produced, directed by faculty members who teach in the Dramatic Arts Program. All performances will take place in the Black Box Theatre (AH 320) at San Diego City College. Scripts were submitted from plays developed in Professor Matthew Salazar-Thompson’s playwriting class, from writing assignments in Professor Farrell Foreman’s English classes, and also by students who have an interest in writing for the stage. After culling through all of the student script submissions, the directors of the plays, professors Farrell Foreman and Kate Neff Stone, selected the strongest seven scripts and held auditions in late January.
