Title IX: It’s Not Just About Sports
Join the Women’s Museum and American Association of University Women for a virtual talk about the history and current status of Title IX. SDSU’s Dr. Lee Mintz and other Title IX invitees will discuss the new Title IX regulations that will be implemented on August 14. Title IX is a federal law that prohibits sex discrimination in educational institutions that receive federal funding. In the last decade, activists have used Title IX as a way to combat sexual violence on college campuses because it deprives women of equal access to education. The new regulations will replace guidelines on how to handle sexual misconduct on campus with rules that activists say will likely deter sexual violence survivors from reporting.
