Named after the colorful South American butterfly, Blue Morpho is a collaborative project that explores jazz and its historical and contemporary exponents. The band's mission is create beauty and to present music inspired by and related to the human experience, expressing struggles and triumphs through melody and groove. Core influences include Wayne Shorter, Charlie Parker, and M-Base, and Kneebody. Blue Morpho’s debut concert features a rare San Diego appearance by acclaimed drummer Jonathan Pinson and includes vibraphonist Matt DiBiase, pianist Hugo Suarez, bassist Will Lyle, and saxophonist Ian Buss.
