Art Exhibition Opening
An opening reception will be held on Saturday, June 8, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. to celebrate the exhibition for June of 2019 at the Athenaeum Art Center in Logan Heights. The event is free and open to the public. The exhibition is entitled “Indoor/Outdoor” and explores how the different environments of Sweden and Southern California inform the ways we use indoor and outdoor space. Featuring the work of Southern California artists from the Feminist Image Group (FIG) and Swedish artists from Krogen Amerika, the collaborative exhibition will be shown at the San Diego Art Institute (SDAI) in Balboa Park and the Athenaeum Art Center (AAC) in Logan Heights. The two interrelated exhibitions portray the physical and psychological aspects of interior and exterior spaces. By visiting the artwork displayed at both venues, similarities and differences between the cultures of Sweden and Southern California become apparent. “Indoor/Outdoor” will run at the Athenaeum Art Center from June 8 through July 2, featuring the work of the Southern California Feminist Image Group, and from June 21 through July 7, at the San Diego Art Institute, which will feature the work of Swedish Krogen Amerika artists.
