Gustavo Romero
The Athenaeum Music & Arts Library's Summer Festival with pianist Gustavo Romero has become a cherished tradition in San Diego. The 2019 Athenaeum Summer Festival, a four-part series of concerts, will feature the first part of Beethoven’s 32 sonatas. (The second part will follow in 2020.) The festival will be set in the intimate Joan & Irwin Jacobs Music Room of the Athenaeum. Romero, a native San Diegan, first performed at the Athenaeum Music & Arts Library as a young boy, and it was with him that the Athenaeum planned its first Summer Festival in 1999, the organization's 100th anniversary. Each year, Romero chooses composers to study in depth, sharing the full range of their artistry. Please visit the Athenaeum’s site to see the planned program for each concert. Also see our site for prices if you are interested in attending a dinner with Romero following the concert.
