Sounds Like San Diego IX
Curated and hosted by San Diego music historian Bart Mendoza, this year’s production of Sounds Like San Diego features three themes:
Top 40 : Hits from San Diego artists and songwriters, by the likes of Stephen Bishop, Jack Tempchin (The Eagles etc), David Gates (Bread etc.), Jim Croce, The Monroes, The Cascades, Iron Butterfly, Jason Mraz, and more.
Soundtracks: Songs with San Diego connections in soundtracks, from the Monkees to Hawaii 50.
A Tribute To Mundell Lowe: The acclaimed guitarist passed away last year – here we celebrate his stellar session work, from Johnny Ray to Billy Jack. Mendoza provides unique stories and background on each artist and piece music.
Artists confirmed include guitarist Jerry Raney (the Beat Farmers, Glory), singer Whitney Shay (2018 Best Blues Artist San Diego Music Awards), pop combo Mittens (2018 Best Rock Album San Diego Music Awards), surf trio Alvino & The Dwells, rockers Electric Mud, and True Stories with Normandie Wilson, plus violinist Alicia Previn and in his first solo appearance in many years, and singer-songwriter Ray Brandes (ex-Tell Tale Hearts). More guests TBA.
