1800 Cabrillo Memorial Drive, San Diego, 92106
Truman Center for National Policy, led by the San Diego Chapter of Truman National Security Project, along with elected officials, community leaders, veterans, and gold star families, will honor the people who died while serving in the armed forces by laying at least 40,000 roses on graves at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery at sunrise on Memorial Day. The Truman San Diego Memorial Day Sunrise Rose Ceremony began in 2015 with 1000 roses and 20 participants. In 2016, they had 140 volunteers and 6,600 roses. In 2017, they grew exponentially and had 30,000 roses, 4 wreaths, and more than 900 volunteers attend at sunrise.
