Irving Flores Danzón Jazz Trio
The Irving Flores Danzón Jazz Trio will perform tracks from their new CD "American Influence" at 6:15 pm Wednesday, May 9, at the Rancho Bernardo Library. The trio features Irving Flores on piano, Mackenzie Leighton on upright bass and Charlie Weller on drums, performing danzón, the official musical genre and dance of Cuba. The program will also feature jazz standards of Duke Ellington and John Coltrane. Flores is a well known jazz talent in the San Diego area, currently playing with the Gilbert Castellanos Quintet, the Brad Stainwehe Jazz Orchestra, Binational Mambo Orchestra, Dave Scott and the New Jazz Groove and with many Jazz singers like Sacha Boutros and Allison Adams. This concert is part of a series of jazz music presentations by the RB Friends of the Library, for the cultural and musical benefit of the public. There is no charge for this concert; free-will donations for musicians are encouraged.
