Tidewater
The headquarters staff of Citizens’ Climate Lobby/ Education will present a free screening of the film “Tidewater,” a documentary about the dangers experienced by sea-level rise in the Tidewater area of Virginia and North Carolina, which is affecting military preparedness and overall American national security. The screening will take place at 7pm on Thursday, March 29th, 2018 at Sandbox in downtown San Diego located at 325 15th St, San Diego, CA 92101. A panel discussion will follow. “Sea level rise is affecting the ability of the military personnel to do their jobs. Flooding is negatively impacting bases and degrading military readiness,” said Mark Reynolds, Executive Director of Citizens’ Climate Lobby/Education. “We need to address climate change as it is jeopardizing the national security of our nation.” Additionally, the U.S. military is increasingly responding to catastrophes and conflicts that have been exacerbated by climate change. Defense Department reports have referred to climate change as a “threat multiplier,” causing detrimental consequences.
