Songs for Social Justice
Wow, we’ve got a diverse and talented lineup this year! Robert Perry will keep the show on track as Master of Ceremonies. - Peggy Watson, with Gemini Junction. Peggy is a long time Folk Heritage favorite, and newly-made political activist. For this show, she’s teaming with Gemini Junction to bring us some original songs and fantastic harmonies. - Elizabeth Schwartz. As the dynamic leader (with husband Yale Strom) of Hot Pstromi Elizabeth has earned a reputation as the Edith Piaf of klezmer music. Here we get a rare chance to hear her with minimal accompaniment, allowing her voice to shine through. - Joey Pearson. From Star Search to Pilgrim Church, Joey brings his r&b spirituality to our show for the second year. - Darius Degher. Darius is a man of the world; he currently writes (and publishes) poetry, teaches at a Swedish university, and serves on the Encinitas Traffic and Public Safety Commission, with an emphasis on bicycling. This is his first Folk Heritage performance – you’ll appreciate his deft guitar work and well-honed songwriting skills. - and more!
