Modi Operandi: The Processes of Creation in Confinement
The Hill Street Country CluB and Linksoul Lab is proud to present ART IS FOR EVERYONE new works created by featuring artworks from Project PAINT artists in Donovan State Prison.
This exhibition, which features over fifty artists, highlights work produced in Project PAINT’s 2017-2018 cycle and focuses on the often-inventive processes behind the finished products created in our courses. Due to the highly restrictive nature/focus on safety and security of the prison environment, art supplies are severely restricted and highly controlled. Therefore, teaching artists and participants have to become very creative in their methods, leading to unique uses of materials and MOs distinct from those of the traditional art world. The displayed pieces are from six courses:
Project-Based Art (40 weeks), Printed Ephemera A-Z (32 weeks), 2D
Illustration (18 weeks), Color Theory (18 weeks), Figure Drawing
Open Reception, Sunday, July 29th at 4pm to 7pm runs til August 7th, Special panel discussion, speakers, small bite and beer will be provided.
