Yuval Yaron
The second of three 2018 Festival Orchestra concerts with award-winning Artistic Director and Conductor Alyze Dreiling takes place at 4 pm Sunday, July 8. Co-presented by the Center for the Arts, Escondido, the concert features internationally renowned violinist Yuval Yaron. He will perform two Bach Concerti for Violin. "Yaron's renditions are as sonorous as they are virtuosic." (The Strad, London)
The concert opens with a whirlwind 'Danza Ritual de Fuego' ('Ritual Fire Dance') from the ballet 'El Amor Brujo' ('The Bewitched Love') by Manuel de Falla. Tchaikovsky's Symphony No 5 fills the second half of the concert. With a recurring main theme that begins in the first movement, the somber character transforms into a triumphant march in the last movement.
The concert is preceded by a free hands-on instrument activity at 3 pm. With a variety of classical and folk instruments available (cello, violin, guitar, ukulele, vihuela, guitarron, bongoes, and boomwhackers), Victoria Eicher, president and executive director of the Youth Philarmonic Orchestra (YPO) invites children and adults to "come early and discover the joy in playing an instrument!"
General seating is free; reserved seats are available for $7.
