The Hanohano Huki Ocean Challenge is one of the longest-running paddle-sport races in California, featuring OC-1, surfski, traditional paddleboard, standup paddleboard, and kayak. The event is in its 23rd year and draws competitors from beginners to professional athletes, from age seven to over eighty. There are plenty of viewing spots for spectators along both courses, in Mission Bay and from Crystal Pier. For those interested in entering competition, pre-entry is recommended, though day of race entries will be accepted. Free for spectators.
