Shabbat & Havdalah at Home
When most people think of holidays, they think of annual celebrations, but in Judaism there is one holiday that occurs every week – the Sabbath. Known in Hebrew as Shabbat and in Yiddish as Shabbos, this holiday is central to Jewish Life. As the great Jewish writer, Ahad Ha-Am has observed: “More than the Jewish people has kept the Sabbath, the Sabbath has kept the Jewish people.” Shabbat truly has been a unifying force for Jews the world over. In this workshop, led by Rabbi/Cantor Arlene Bernstein, we will highlight the blessings, rituals, food, music and creative ideas for a joyous Shabbat and Havdalah in your home. No fee, but please RSVP at least one week in advance. For more information contact Program Director Ilene Tatro; [email protected] or call 858 535-1111, ext.2516
