Portrait Drawing For Beginners (ages 13-18)
In this fun and relaxed environment you will be able to explore different techniques and learn simple tips to advance your drawing abilities. You will learn the proportions of the face, five elements of shape, and tips to train your eye to see more like an artist. You will be able to use the principles learned in this class as the basis for any of your art-related endeavors. By the end of the weeklong class, students will have a better understanding of how to create a dimensional, realistic portrait.
Materials: 5 printed portrait photos (at least 5˝ x 7˝, good quality, not pixelated); sketch pad (at least 8˝ x 10˝); variety of drawing pencils; eraser; variety of solid colored paper (wrapping paper, scrap paper, construction paper-can be scraps); scissors; glue stick.
