The Gaslamp: It Wasn't Always This Way
Nowadays, the Gaslamp Quarter is a certified historic district renown for welcoming visitors and locals to world class restaurants, conventions, and nightlife- but it wasn’t always this way! Join us for our next History Talks! Lecture as Michael Stepner, Professor of Architecture and Urban Design at the New School of Architecture and Design recounts the modern history of how the Gaslamp Quarter became the destination it is today. He will discuss the vision, tools, resources, and people that made the Gaslamp Quarter. He will also explore how the policies and approaches that were used in the making of the Gaslamp Quarter have had an impact around San Diego and around the country.
The lecture will take place at the San Diego Chinese Historical Foundation’s Dr. Sun-Yat Sen Memorial Extension at 328 J Street, San Diego, CA 92101.
