Award-winning travel journalist, Maggie Espinosa, has a passion for exploring the globe and sampling the world. She amasses the indigenous qualities of a destination and unfurls them into colorful, alluring stories. Working in print, radio, television and social media, Espinosa’s travelogues encompass all mediums. Coverage includes national and international publications, syndicated radio interviews, and travel reporting on XETV Channel 6. She authored a pet-friendly travel guide – The Privileged Pooch, Luxury Travel With Your Pet in Southern California. Her second book – On A Mission – is slated to publish in August 2015. It profiles Espinosa’s 800-mile walk to visit California’s 21 missions. Yup, walk! Loco! This hike is only one example of her countless travel exploits. She’s danced with Kuna Indians on Panama’s San Blas Islands; slumbered in Japanese Ryokans; lived on St. Croix; traipsed the City of Light for six weeks with her bichon frise pup; swam with nurse sharks in Belize; sat among millions of Monarch Butterflies at their wintering grounds in Michoacan, Mexico; mushed a team of Huskies in Fairbanks, Alaska; explored the Venezuelan Rain Forest; scaled Mt. Whitney; straddled the equator in Ecuador on her way to the Galapagos Islands; sampled limpet sea snails in the Azores; rode the Amtrak train across America; led group tours through Baja’s Guadalupe Valley wine country; and the list goes on. Through the years Espinosa’s taught travel writing at Grossmont College, and was a guest lecturer with Celebrity Cruises. She thoroughly enjoyed interacting with the attendees and teaching them how to break into the travel writing industry.
