Highland String Quartet
The Highland String Quartet will perform the American Quartet by Dvořák, which is his interpretation of America at the close of the 19th century. It is the nickname given to the famous Czech composer's String Quartet in F major, Op. 96, because of its collage of America presented in music. It has everything from gypsy and Czech melodies, to African-American spirituals and Native American tunes, mixed into his impression of rural America. Also being performed at the concert will be a selection of chamber music by Beethoven and Piazzolla. The concert will be in the 2nd floor community room of the Rancho Bernardo Library and there is no charge for this concert. This is a Chamber Music Series event sponsored by the nonprofit Friends of the RB Library as a cultural service to the community. Donations are encouraged to cover the costs of the musicians.
