The New City Sinfonia, under the direction of Dan Ratelle, returns with an Autumn program of orchestral music. Since 2017 is being observed worldwide as the 500th Anniversary of the beginning of the Protestant Reformation, the Sinfonia will present parts of Felix Mendelssohn’s “Reformation” Symphony, which he composed in honor of the 300th anniversary of the Augsburg Confession, a key event of Lutheran Protestantism. Also on the program will be Schubert’s lovely Symphony No. 5. Completing the program will be John Williams’ haunting “Theme from Schindler’s List.” A $10 donation will be accepted at the door.
