The Acoustic Evenings series showcases local acoustic musicians. Multiple performers are featured in each program and are available at the intermission reception and post-concert meet-and-greet. The project advances the Athenaeum’s commitment to support San Diego talent. The Athenaeum Music & Arts library concludes the fall 2017 Acoustic Evenings series with a concert featuring Jimmy Patton and Enrique Platas, Hugh Gaskins, and Lena Evans. Guitarist Jimmy Patton and percussionist Enrique Platas have become a particular favorite in town. Their compositions and arrangements incorporate flamenco, Middle-Eastern, Brazilian salsa, and calypso. Bluesman Hugh Gaskins has created an American fusion of blues, rockabilly, rock, country, and cowboy blues. Lena Evans is a singer/songwriter whose songs touch on a variety of topics and emotions.
