San Diego and the Great War: 1914-1919

April 3, 2017 marks the 100th Anniversary of the United State's entry into World War I. In conjunction with this event, the Congress of History of San Diego & Imperial Counties and the San Diego Veterans Museum at Balboa Park are co-sponsoring a two-day conference focusing on the greater San Diego region's role during the war. Among the topics: S.D. & the Great War: a Historical Timeline; William Kettner-Bringing the Fleet to San Diego; the Balboa Park Naval Station; Camp Kearny; and Chula Vista's Gunpowder Point. There will also be discussions on the roles played by local women, minority groups, returning vets, and war memorials.
