Community Choice Energy Forum
Are you a resident of Vista wondering what you can do to support climate action efforts at a local level? Join us as we learn about Community Choice Energy and get the latest news and updates on the Vista Climate Action Plan (yes! Vista has one). Community Choice Energy (CCE), also known as Community Choice Aggregation (CCA), is one of the most effective ways for cities to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, incentivize local clean energy production, create local clean energy jobs, and many other positive benefits for communities. A presentation on CCE will be given by Dr. Bruce Bekkar, a physician and full time climate activist. He co-leads the health group of Al Gore’s Climate Reality Leadership Corp and is the public health representative for the City of San Diego’s Climate Action Plan Implementation Working Group. The Vista Climate Action Plan identifies strategies to reduce greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) from City government operations and community activities to support the State’s efforts to mitigate Vista’s contribution to climate change. The plan was adopted in 2013 and will undergo an update soon. John Conley, Director of Community Development for the City of Vista, will give a presentation about Vista’s Climate Action Plan.
