Immigrants and Refugees: A Jewish Call-to-Action
Motivated by the tradition of “Welcoming the Stranger,” San Diego’s Jewish community is invited to a San Diego Jewish Community Gathering to demonstrate their support of immigrants and refugees – an opportunity to show solidarity and promote meaningful action. Attendees will be inspired by prominent religious and community leaders speaking up about how Jewish traditions and values can make an impact in the community. Topics will also include immigration, the refugee vetting process, and personal stories of perseverance.
At the gathering, community members will be able to take action on-site with stations set up to send postcards, electronically contact their congressperson, learn more about SB 54 to prevent the use of California resources for mass deportations and more. The forum, open to the entire Jewish community, is being convened by the Anti-Defamation League of San Diego County, Jewish Family Service of San Diego, Jewish Federation of San Diego and Leichtag Foundation. Supporting organizations include Hillel of San Diego, San Diego Rabbinical Association, Jewish Community Foundation of San Diego.
