Local rockers the Dinettes formed in early 1979 as an all-girl band with one black member à la Josie & the Pussycats, though they had more in common with hard-rocker such as Joan Jett or Suzi Quatro. Courted by Runaways mastermind Kim Fowley, they released a few tracks and then imploded around 1981, with members going on to well-regarded bands. An unexpected reunion (minus one deceased member) took place last summer in Carlsbad which was so well received that the band is staging another reunion on Thursday, December 28 at the Casbah.
