Sober & Serving 2016
From struggling with addiction to being of service to neighbors, hundreds of people in recovery are coming together to participate locally in the national day of service. In 2009, Congress designated September 11 as a National Day of Service and Remembrance. Each year, millions of volunteers across the nation spend the day helping others and participating in community service projects. This year, San Diego Sober Living Coalition has dozens of homes across our County participating in this worthwhile event. We invite our neighbors to join us throughout the county making a difference in our neighborhoods. We want to unite our communities by serving together. Being of service is a key part of recovery for many people. Our residents will be leading street and beach cleanups, book exchanges, homeless outreaches, and other projects throughout the day. Look for flyers and announcements near your home for specific details on how to join us in serving each other. The San Diego Sober Living Coalition, a membership organization, provides supportive and structured housing in a family style environment to help those in need of stable housing, fellowship, and support as they make their way back to being productive members of society. The SDSLC is a nonprofit organization serving Southern California.
