Boardwalk Craft Market
The Poway Arts & Crafts Guild celebrates 24 years on the boardwalk in Old Poway Park.
The Boardwalk Craft Market features original work by individual artists and craftsmen. Participants are juried on craftsmanship, creativity, and appropriateness to Old Poway Park's living history theme. Their work reflects a connection with traditional arts and crafts done at the turn of the 20th Century. Participants in the Boardwalk Craft Market show work in wood, metal, glass, clay, fabric, fibers, painting, drawing, soap making, and photography. Demonstrations vary at each market and may include spinning, metalworking, beading, quilting, and wood turning.
Approximately 35 to 40 artists participate each year with each artist setting their own schedule of attendance. This results in a different selection of artists at each show. The Boardwalk Craft Market offers visitors an opportunity to support local artists and shop for one-of-a-kind items not found elsewhere. The Boardwalk Craft Market began in 1993 as a companion to the Saturday morning Old Poway Park Farmers Market. The Poway Arts & Crafts Guild worked with the City of Poway within the living history goals of Old Poway Park to create an event which would add to the education and enjoyment of park visitors.
