Trumpets & Tassels: From Leipzig to Versailles comes replete with chorus, trumpets, and drums. J.S. Bach’s Easter Oratorio displays Bach at the height of his powers during his initial years as Leipzig’s Thomaskantor. Lully’s Te Deum, written to honor King Louis XIV, likewise displays Lully at his most festive in his setting of the quintessential hymn of praise.
