Not Just on Vacation: Why Leopard Sharks Hang Out in La Jolla. Have you ever wondered why hundreds of leopard sharks gather at one particular spot off La Jolla Shores Beach every summer? Join Andy Nosal, a marine biologist who has studied these animals for eight years. In his talk, Andy will discuss who these leopard sharks are, what they are doing in La Jolla, where exactly they are doing it, and why that spot in particular is so special for these animals.
Dr. Nosal received a B.S. in biology from the University of Virginia and a Ph.D. in marine biology from Scripps Institution of Oceanography, where he is currently a postdoctoral researcher in conjunction with the Birch Aquarium.
