Pirate Days
Swashbuckling pirates will be on hand at the San Diego Maritime Museum this weekend to entertain, guide, and inform visitors during “Pirate Days.” This event is open to all ages; pirate-themed costumes are encouraged. There will be kids’ costume contests, carnival games, weapon demonstrations, cannon firings, sword fights and many more fun activities, including a treasure hunt hosted by a mermaid.
On the water, pirate-themed activities include five 45-minute bay cruises with pirates on the museums pilot boat, and three one-hour cruises (punctuated by cannon fire) aboard the tall ship Californian sailed by buccaneers.
There is a $2 discount for adults and kids in costume. Note that no steel weapons will be allowed, and all weapons must be “peace tied.” Quartermasters will be on hand to make sure attendees understand the code of conduct.
