Blackburn Virtual Reading
9500 Gilman Drive, San Diego, 92093
Cost: Free
Join us for this “virtual reading” from the Library’s Archive for New Poetry featuring newly digitized recordings from the large archive of poetry readings created by poet and translator Paul Blackburn (1926-1971), who played an important role in the New York poetry community.
The archive has been described as “the most comprehensive oral history of the New York poetry scene from the late 1950s thru 1970.” The reception will also honor Literature Professor Michael Davidson for his many contributions to the library and the Archive for New Poetry over the past 40 years. An exhibit of Davidson’s works and manuscripts will be on display at the event. In the Seuss Room, Geisel Library.
