70th Anniversary of the End of World War II
With a presentation by Dr. Paul Hung-Chao Tai, the unveiling of an exhibition of historic photographs, and a short film about World War II in China.
Dr. Tai will discuss some little-known facts about China’s war against Japan in order to correct distortions of history and illuminate previously understudied aspects of the war. Dr. Tai received his undergraduate education at the National Taiwan University, completed a M.A. and Ph.D. at the University of Illinois, and is now Professor Emeritus of international political economy at the University of Detroit Mercy.
Dr. Tai has extensively researched and written six books and 75 academic articles on topics relevant to Chinese history, international political economy, Confucianism, and economic development. He has also served as a research associate at Harvard University's Center for International Affairs and as a research fellow at Stanford University's Hoover Institution.
