Climate Change and the San Diego Coast
In 2011 the Society for California Archaeology established a goal to investigate the impacts of climate change along the entire span of the California coastline. The purpose of this project is to assist agencies in preparing for the effects of climate change on archaeological resources. The effort will involve coordination with federal, state, and local agencies, tribal governments, and a large group of volunteers.
This presentation, by local archaeologist Sandra Pentney, will explain the project, its scope, and the path forward to accomplishing a volunteer survey effort of approximately 10,000 acres across the coastal region of San Diego County.
The program will be held outdoors. Please bring your own seating and warm clothing. Info: San Diego County Archaeological Society, 858-538-0935.
