War Comes Home
704 Pier View Way, Oceanside, 92054
Cost: Free - $10
As part of the Exploring Engagement Artist-in-Residence series, local artist and psychologist Mark Jesinoski will collaborate with the Oceanside Library and their War Comes Home initiative.
He will lead an experiential workshop using artistic process as a medium to building awareness and empathy for the experience of combat trauma and the long walk home post-deployment.
Jesinoski clarifies that this is not “art therapy” but rather using art-making approaches as an experiential bridge to building a basic understanding of bio-psycho-emotional-neurological components of trauma and change as it relates to our service members and, by extension, to our communities and culture as a whole.
