Scripps Prostate Cancer Lecture
The public can learn the latest facts about one of the most confusing areas of health care at a free lecture at Scripps La Jolla led by a team of medical experts.
Michael Kosty, M.D., will review prostate cancer screening guidelines and how they apply differently to patients based on their individual situations. A look into various treatment options, such as minimally invasive surgery and proton therapy, will be presented by Carol Salem, M.D., and Carl Rossi, M.D. Attendees can observe a hands-on demonstration of the da Vinci robotic surgical system and learn how it is used by Scripps urologic surgeons.
Men will also receive access to free prostate cancer screenings later in October, including an individualized risk assessment, prostate-specific antigen (PSA) test, and digital rectal exams.
