Liel Lebovitz will speak about his new book, A Broken Hallelujah: Rock and Roll, Redemption, and the Life of Leonard Cohen, during the annual San Diego Jewish Book Fair.
“This is not a biography of Leonard Cohen,” says author Liel Lebovitz, who joins us to discuss the music more than the man and the beliefs at the core of that music. Lebovitz will explain why Cohen’s music has transfixed so many and why it continues to grow in popularity and influence. In Lebovitz’s opinion, it may be because Cohen is above all “a poet whose words, like the chants of Gregorian monks, seem designed to attract the attention of some higher power.”
