National Pilates Day

Joseph Pilates developed the practice back in the 1930s in Germany. He continued to refine it after he immigrated to New York. He’d been a sickly child and built up his body be amazingly strong. Not only did he develop movements to build strength, but he also designed equipment specifically to help with those movements. In the early years, dancers flocked to his studio.
Pilates is a mind-body-spirit with an emphasis on strengthening the core of your body. Movement starts in the core and moves outward, depending on the core for ultimate support.
