Japanese Brush Painting Art Exhibition
The power of horses and the beauty of flowers will be highlighted at San Diego’s historic Balboa Park during the 12th annual Friends of Taka Sumi-e art society show and sale.
In addition to artwork, the show will feature displays of beautiful flower arrangements, called ikebana.
The exhibition highlights Japanese art, culture, and traditions. Students and associates of San Diego Community College instructor Takashi Ijichi will exhibit original paintings of many subjects in both sumi (ink) and Asian watercolors. Highlights will include demonstrations of brush painting by Takashi Ijichi, a wearable art fashion show, choral performances, and musical performances of the koto, a Japanese stringed instrument, and the shakuhachi, the Japanese flute.
