Hot Mikado
2425 Dusk Drive, San Diego, 92139
A musical comedy based on Gilbert and Sullivan's The Mikado, adapted by David H. Bell (book and lyrics) and Rob Bowman (orchestrastion and arrangements).
The story does not stray far from the original, with a town called Titipu -- where flirting is illegal and punishable by death.
When Ko-Ko, who is engaged to marry Yum-Yum, breaks the rule of flirting and is condemned to death by the Mikado, Nanki-poo, the Mikado's son masquerading as a Trumpet player, returns from hiding to marry Yum-Yum only to find the town has made Ko-Ko the Lord High Executioner in effort to prevent himself and anyone else from being executed.
Written by David H. Bell and Rob Bowman. Directed by Jessica Bird.
At the Ole Kittleson Little Theater.
