Skirts Swish, Bells Tinkle, Drums Pound
The 20th Anniversary of Nations of San Diego International Dance Festival explodes onto the stage in February with a kaleidoscope of color, rhythm, and movement — a three-day cultural feast of dance and music from around the world. Skirts swish, bells tinkle, drums pound, feet stomp and bodies soar.
32 dance companies with over 300 dancers and musicians will delight audiences over the three-day festival with diverse cultural traditions rarely seen together in one setting. Many companies that have thrilled audiences over the past 20 years will again grace the stage, including the pulsing beat of Bollywood Trans, the majesty of Pooja and Company, and the ethereal grace of Blue Ming.
Newcomers will join the cross-cultural tribe, featuring the intensity of the Naruwan Taiko Drummers, the whirling Egyptian dancer Nicole McLaren, and the storytelling of the Abinaya Arts Academy Indian dancers.
