In this three-week course, participants will use simple materials and techniques to decorate 14” wide fabric using textile paint and brushes. Attendees will also learn about the significance of certain motifs, patterns and color that reveal the wearer's gender, age, status, wealth, and taste in traditional Japanese Kimono. Bring a sewing machine to sew the painted fabric to create kimono-like jacket. Materials list provided upon registration. Instructor Lauren Becker Downey. Class meets June 7, 14, and 21. 619-223-0058.
