Seventh annual celebration of books starts with reading and book signing by Reyna Grande (The Distance Between Us) on October 1. Reading and book signing by Susan Straight (Between Heaven and Here) on October 2.
October 3 promises panel discussion with contributors to The Far East: Everything Just As It Is anthology, combining non-fiction and poetry to create a portrait of life in East San Diego County.
Readings and signings on October 4 by Sky of Red Poppies author Zohreh Ghahremani (11:10am); and Gustavo Arellano (Taco USA: How Mexican Food Conquered America) at 12:45pm.
City Works Press reading and book signing with Chris Baron, Heather Eudy, Cali Linfor, and Sabrina Youmans, contributors to Lantern Tree: Four Books of Poems on October 5.
"Banned Book Saturday" is October 6, commencing with screening and discussion of the documentary Precious Knowledge. Also planned: talks on history of banned books in the U.S.; readings and discussion of excerpts from banned books by faculty and staff members.
